Part 3 of the series asking "Did The Thief On The Cross Go To Heaven?" Part 1 looked at the idea of Paradise being synonymous with heaven. Part 2 addressed the theory of paradise being a section in Hades for the righteous dead. In this video we look at how the Jewish hope for restored access to paradise (the garden of Eden) was linked to hope for the messianic kingdom in the age to come. Did The Thief On The Cross Go To Heaven? Pt 3: Paradise In The New Creation
Another way to interpret the words of Jesus to the thief on the cross ("today you will be with me in paradise") is that paradise is a section in Hades for the righteous dead whilst they await the final judgement. This interpretation might make better sense than the idea that Jesus and the thief went to heaven, but does it make good sense of all three keys: "paradise", "today" and "kingdom"?
